Rose Bengal exerts lethal photodynamic effects on S. carlsbergensis under aerobic light conditions. Rose Bengal inhibits bacterial growth, restricts the colony size of filamentous fungi, and suppresses the growth of diffusive fungi. Rose Bengal exhibits dark-state antibacterial activity against S. aureus. Rose Bengal is applicable to infection-related research[1][2].
