Recombinant human protein was used as the immunogen for this MUC18 antibody.
The human Mel-CAM gene maps to chromosome 11q23 and encodes a trans-membrane glycoprotein, also designated MCAM, MUC18 or CD146, that belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and functions as a Ca2+-independent cell adhesion molecule. MUC18 expression is restricted to advanced primary and metastatic melanomas and to cell lines of the neuroectodermal lineage, but not normal melanocytes. MUC18 / CD146 is found on 80% of advanced primary human melanomas and correlates well with development of metastatic disease.
Clonality:
Monoclonal
Concentration:
0.2 mg/ml in 1X PBS with 0.1 mg/ml BSA (US sourced) and 0.05% sodium azide
The concentration stated for each application is a general starting point. Variations in protocols, secondaries and substrates may require the MUC18 antibody to be titered up or down for optimal performance.
