Decane, 1,10-diiodo- is used as a crosslinking reagent for tetrabutylammonium polygalacturonic acid and as an alkylating agent in the synthesis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical bis-cryptophanes. It is also used to produce decane at temperature of 20C.
