Thalifendine chloride is a metabolite of berberine, wherein the methoxy group at the C-10 position undergoes demethylation by CYP51. It exhibits cytotoxicity against P-388 mouse leukaemia cells (ED50 = 0.84 µM) and demonstrates weak inhibitory activity against Plasmodium falciparum.
