It activates receptors including the vitamin D receptor (VDR), aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), liver X receptor alpha/beta (LXRalpha/beta), and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARgamma), and enhances the expression of CYP24A1.
