2-Methoxyestradiol-13C6 is a 13C-labeled version of 2-Methoxyestradiol. 2-Methoxyestradiol (2-ME2) is an orally active endogenous metabolite of 17beta-estradiol (E2) that functions as an apoptosis inducer and an angiogenesis inhibitor with significant antitumor activity. It also disrupts the stability of microtubules. Furthermore, 2-Methoxyestradiol is a potent inhibitor of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and a promoter of reactive oxygen species generation, inducing autophagy in transformed cell line HEK293, and cancer cell lines U87 and HeLa.
