Taurodeoxycholic acid-d5 is a deuterium-labeled form of taurodeoxycholic acid. This bile acid helps stabilize mitochondrial membranes and decreases the formation of free radicals. It inhibits apoptosis by blocking calcium-mediated pathways and the activation of caspase-12. Additionally, taurodeoxycholic acid exhibits neuroprotective effects in both 3-nitropropionic acid-induced and genetic mouse models of Huntingtons disease (HD).
