Himachalol, a sesquiterpene, is an orally active compound with antispasmodic and anticancer properties found in cedarwood. It exhibits antiproliferative effects on melanoma cells and induces apoptosis (Apoptosis) by decreasing Bcl-2 levels and increasing Bax levels. Himachalol also causes systemic blood pressure reduction and peripheral vasodilation, and it inhibits carbamylcholine-induced intestinal spasms. In mice, the LD50 is 265 mg/kg (oral) and 247 mg/kg (intraperitoneal injection).
