Escholtzine is an alkaloid found in the California poppy (Eschscholzia californica). It inhibits the binding of [3H]8-OH-DPAT to 5-HT1A receptors with an EC50 of 11 µM and a Ki of 6 µM. Escholtzine also inhibits CYP3A4, displaying an IC50 of 13.4 µg/mL. It is utilized in research concerning neurological disorders such as anxiety.
