Polyalanine peptide (pALA) is an antimicrobial peptide that targets biological membranes and Gram-negative bacteria while being non-toxic to mammalian cells. It forms an alpha-helical conformation, effectively increasing the permeability of Gram-negative bacterial membranes, leading to lethal cellular leakage. Polyalanine peptide is useful in anti-infection research.
