beta-Xylosidase, derived from Opitutus terrae (EC 3.2.1.37), releases reducing sugars from birchwood xylan and also catalyzes the hydrolysis of 4-methylumbelliferyl-beta-D-cellobioside and 4-methylumbelliferyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside. Notably, beta-Xylosidase lacks endoxylanase, arabinoxylanase, or beta-glucanase activities. Post-translational protein glycosylation occurs in beta-Xylosidase.
