Laccase, Trametes versicolor (EC 1.10.3.2), is a blue copper oxidase that reduces molecular oxygen to water. It can oxidize polyphenols, methoxy-substituted phenolic compounds, and diamines but does not oxidize tyrosine. The oxidation reactions of Laccase are single-electron processes, resulting in the formation of free radicals.
