RPL8 (60S ribosomal protein L8) belongs to the ribosomal protein L2P family. Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. The protein belongs to the L2P family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in the cytoplasm and exists as a component of the 60S subunit where it is thought to play a role in aminoacyl-tRNA binding, specifically at the ribosomal subunit interface. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-257 from human RPL8, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, expressed in E. coli.
