| Hypericin is an extract from Hypericum perforatum L. hypericaceae (also known as St. Johns wort) and is believed to be an antibiotic/antiviral, specifically acting as a kinase inhibitor. Component of medicinal plant Hypericum perforatum (St Johns wort). It has multifunctional pharmacological properties such as anti-depressive, anti-neoplastic, anti-tumoral activity. The compound is active against viral infections of herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2), murine cytomegalovirus (CMV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1). Hypericin is inhibitor of monoaminoxidase enzyme (MAO), protein kinase C (PKC), dopamine-beta-hydroxylase, reverse transcriptase, telomerase and cytochrome P450 (CYP).
