Antibiotic. Topoisomerase II inhibitor. Mediates a unique cross-linking reaction between DNA and histidine H3. Anti-neoplastic. Photosensitizing compound. Antitumor compound against human cell lines. Less potent than chrysomycin A. Source: Streptomyces sp. Synonyms: Chrysomycin M, Virenomycin M CAS No: 83852-56-6 Molecular Formula: C27H28O9 Molecular Weight: 496.5 Solubility: Soluble in DMSO or dimethylformamide, slightly soluble in 100% ethanol or methanol. Method for Determining Identity: Proton NMR Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
