PKR inhibitor III is a nucleic acid molecule that inhibits PKR. It has been shown to be effective in transfecting cells and has therapeutic potential for use in treating patients with neutrophil disorders. PKR inhibitor III is an oligodeoxynucleotide that contains the sequence of 7-deaza-2-deoxyguanosine (7dG). This sequence is complementary to the anti-sense strand of PKR mRNA and inhibits PKR activity by binding to its mRNA transcript. In vitro studies have shown that this nucleic acid molecule can inhibit PKR activity in tissue samples from patients with neutrophil disorders.
