Osteoclast-mediated bone resorption inhibitor. Binds and blocks farnesyl diphosphate synthase (FPPS) in the HMG-CoA pathway (IC50 = 460nM for recombinant human FPPS), causes macrophage apoptosis. Inhibits prenylation and sterol biosynthesis in purified osteoclasts. Solubility: 50mM in water
