Cyclo(-Gly-Pro) is a cyclic peptide that has been shown to be neuroprotective. It acts as an analog of the neurotransmitter glutamate and inhibits the binding of glutamate to its receptors. Cyclo(-Gly-Pro) also blocks the release of serotonin from nerve cells and inhibits the proliferation of nerve cells in culture. Cyclo(-Gly-Pro) has been shown to increase locomotor activity in mice, which may be due to its ability to activate 5-HT2A receptors in the brain.
