| A corticosteroid used in dermatology as a topical vasoconstrictor. Dexamethasone dipropionate is a synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive and antiproliferative properties. It is used to treat a number of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, or ulcerative colitis. Dexamethasone dipropionate has also been used in the treatment of various types of cancers such as lymphomas or ovarian cancer. It has been shown to be effective against a range of different cancers in animal models. Dexamethasone dipropionate binds to receptors on cells that are involved in the inflammatory response and acts by blocking the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
