(DHQD)2PHAL has been synthesized by the cross-coupling reaction of an alkene and a benzofuran derivative in the presence of a palladium catalyst. The synthesis was performed using the kinetic method, which provides analytical methods for the analysis of chemical products. This synthetic compound has acidic hydrolysis properties, but it is not soluble in water. (DHQD)2PHAL is also used as an analytical reagent to determine the concentration of hydroxamic acids in solution.
