Indoxacarb is a novel insecticide that inhibits the activity of P450 enzymes in insects. It acts as an inhibitor of atp-binding cassette transporter (ABC) and blocks the production of ATP, which leads to cell death. Indoxacarb binds to the ryanodine receptor on the sarcoplasmic reticulum, inhibiting calcium release and causing muscle paralysis and death. Indoxacarb also has synergistic effects with other insecticides including glycol ethers. This chemical is highly resistant to degradation by cytochrome P450 enzymes and requires special techniques for analysis. It has been shown that this chemical can be toxic to mammals.
