Vacuolar protein sorting 29, also known as VPS29, belongs to a group of genes coding for vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) proteins that, when functionally impaired, disrupt the efficient delivery of vacuolar hydrolases. It is a late Golgi transmembrane protein that acts as the sorting receptor for soluble vacuolar hydrolases, from the prevacuolar endosome back to the Golgi. Also, VPS29 may be involved in the formation of the inner shell of the retromer coat for retrograde vesicles leaving the prevacuolar compartment. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-182 of human VSP29, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressed in E. coli.
