PFDN6, also known as HKE2 or PFD6, is a subunit of the heteromeric prefoldin complex that chaperones nascent actin and alpha- and beta-tubulin chains pending their transfer to the cytosolic chaperonin containing TCP1 (CCT) complex. It binds specifically to cytosolic chaperonin (c-CPN) and transfers target proteins to it and binds to nascent polypeptide chain and promotes folding in an environment in which there are many competing pathways for nonnative proteins. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-129 from human PFDN6, fused to His-tag at N-terminal expressed in E. coli.
