GDA, also known as guanine deaminase, catalyzes the hydrolytic deamination of guanine, producing xanthine and ammonia. Studies in rat ortholog suggest this gene plays a role in microtubule assembly. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-454 from human GDA expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~51kD (454 aa) confirmed by MALDI-TOF Specific Activity: >2000pmol/min/ug, and is defined as the amount of enzyme that convert guanine to xanthine/minute at pH 8.0 at 37C. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
