PGC, also known as gastricsin, is an aspartic proteinase that belongs to the peptidase family A1. It is synthesized in the gastric mucosa as inactive precursors. It contains a prosegment that serves to stabilize the inactive form and prevent entry of the substrate to the active site. Serum levels of PGC are used as a biomarker for certain gastric diseases including Helicobacter pylori related gastritis. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa17-388 from human PGC, fused to His-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in insect cell. Molecular Weight: ~41.6kD (380aa) 40-57kD (SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions) Endotoxin: ~1EU/1ug (LAL) Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
