Catalyzes the transformation of cystathionine into homocysteine. Also exhibits cysteine desulfhydrase activity in vitro, producing sulfide from cysteine. Source: Partial recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-392 from Escherichia coli metC, fused to His-Tag at N-terminal, expressed in E. coli.
