The Sulfamethoxazole (SMZ/SMX) ELISA BioAssay(TM) Kit is a competitive ELISA intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of SMZ/SMX concentrations in honey, eggs, milk, serum, urine and tissue. Detection Range: 1-81ppb Sensitivity: 1ppb Precision: Intra-assay CV: <10% Inter-assay CV: <10% Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with SMZ/SMX antigen. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with SMZ/SMX specific antibody and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated anti-antibody. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between pre-coated SMZ/SMX and SMZ/SMX in standards or samples with the SMZ/SMX special antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of SMZ/SMX in the standards or samples. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. Once opened, the kit is stable up to 4 weeks at 4C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
