Bourjotinolone A is a prenylated flavonoid that inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines in human cells. Bourjotinolone A has been shown to inhibit the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer and factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer, which are transcription factors that regulate proinflammatory cytokine production. This compound also inhibits the activation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells by blocking the binding of LPS to toll-like receptor 4, preventing the release of proinflammatory cytokines. Bourjotinolone A has been isolated from plants belonging to the Meliaceae family and is used as a natural product for research purposes.
