alpha-Lipomycin is an antibiotic originally isolated from S. aureofaciens.1 It is the glycoside form of beta-lipomycin that has activity against Gram-positive bacteria but not against fungi or yeasts. The antibiotic activity of alpha-lipomycin is antagonized by some sterols and lecithin.
