Bacitracin A is a polypeptide antibiotic that has been found in B. licheniformis and the main active component of the bacitracin family of polypeptide antibiotics. It is active against M. lysodeikticus when used at a concentration of 0.1uM and forms a complex with divalent cations and the cell membrane component C55-isoprenyl pyrophosphate. Synonyms: Bacitracin A1, Bacitracin A2a, N-[[(4R)-2-[(1S,2S)-1-amino-2-methylbutyl]-4,5-dihydro-4-thiazolyl]carbonyl]-L-leucyl-D-alpha-glutamyl-L-isoleucyl-L-lysyl-D-ornithyl-L-isoleucyl-D-phenylalanyl-L-histidyl-D-alpha-aspartyl-L-asparagine, (104)-lactam, 1-[N-[[2-(1-amino-2-methylbutyl)-4,5-dihydro-4-thiazolyl]carbonyl]-L-leucine]-Bacitracin F, 1,4,7,10,13,16,19-Heptaazacyclopentacosane, cyclic peptide deriv., NSC 45737 CAS No: 22601-59-8 Molecular Formula: C66H103N17O16S Molecular Weight: 1422.71 Appearance: White to off-white solid Solubility: DMSO (Slightly), Methanol (Very Slightly) NMR, MS: Conforms to reference Melting Point: 190C Storage and Stability: May be stored at RT for short-term only.
