L-Homocysteine Thiolactone Hydrochloride is used to prepare substituted homocysteine analogs as inhibitors of peptidylglycine alpha-amidating monooxygenase. It is also used to synthesize (mercaptoacyl)alanylprolines as metalloprotease inhibitors.
