Lead(II) Nitrate, is toxic, an oxidising agent, and is categorized as probably carcinogenic to humans . It is shown to inhibit bacterial oxidation of ferrous iron in sulfate-rich systems. Other Lead(II) Nitrate applications include use as a heat stabilizer in nylon and polyesters, as a coating for photothermographic paper, and in rodenticides.
