| IL-2, also known as T cell growth factor (TCGF), is an immunoregulatory lymphokine produced by T-cells in response to antigenic or mitogenic stimulation. Il-2/ Il-2R signaling is required for T-cell proliferation and other fundamental functions which are essential for the immune response. IL-2 stimulates growth and differentiation of B-cells, NK cells, lymphokine activated killer cells, monocytes, macrophages and oligodendrocytes. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa21-155 from rat IL-2, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~15.6kD (136aa), confirmed by MALDI-TOF Biological Activity: Measured in a cell proliferation assay using CTLL2 mouse cytotoxic T cells. The ED50 for this effect is less or equal to 0.3 ng/ml. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
