MMP-2, also known as Matrix metalloproteinase-2, is one of the the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family. It is involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. It has a role in myocardial cell death pathways and contributes to myocardial oxidative stress by regulating the activity of GSK3 beta. This protein cleaves GSK3 beta in vitro and involved in the formation of the fibrovascular tissues. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa30-662 from mouse MMP-2 fused to His-tag at C-terminal, expressed in Baculovirus..
