Pentraxin 2, also known as serum amyloid P-component, is a secreted serum glycoprotein that belongs to the pentraxins family. This family binds calcium-dependent lectin-like manner and is characterized distinctive flattened Beta-jellyroll structure similar to the legume lectins. This protein is a non-fibrillar component, it can interact with DNA and histones. It regulates the solubility of amyloid fibrils and protects them from degradation by proteolytic enzymes and phagocytic cells. This protein is the major acute-phase protein and expression of it is dependent on complement activation, IL-6 and/or IL-1 beta. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa21-224 from mouse Pentraxin2, fused to His-Tag at C-terminal expressed in HEK293..
