IL-1RA/IL-1F3, also known as interleukin-1 receptor antagonist, is a glycosylated protein and a powerful antiinflammatory agent. IL-1RA is a pan-physiological inhibitor of IL-1 that prevents the activation of IL-1 receptors by inhibiting IL-1 binding to its receptors. It can inhibit angiogenesis by blocking the activation of the IL-1/PI3K/NF-kappaB pathway in IL-1-producing human colon cancer cells. Also, Several autoimmune and inflammatory diseases have been associated with an allelic polymorphism of the IL-1RA. Recombinant human IL1RA was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa26-177 from human IL1RA, expressed in E. coli.
