Pattern receptor that binds to murein peptidoglycans (PGN) of Gram-positive bacteria. Has bactericidal activity towards Gram-positive bacteria. May kill Gram-positive bacteria by interfering with peptidoglycan biosynthesis. Binds also to Gram-negative bacteria. Involved in innate immunity. May function in intracellular killing of bacteria. The soluble form triggers apoptosis in vitro. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa19-182 from mouse Peptidoglycan recognition protein 1, fused to 10X His-Tag at N-terminal and Myc-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in E.coli.
