Macrophage-restricted adhesion molecule that mediates sialic-acid dependent binding to lymphocytes, including granulocytes, monocytes, natural killer cells, B-cells and CD8 T-cells. Preferentially binds to alpha-2,3-linked sialic acid. Binds to SPN/CD43 on T-cells. May play a role in hemopoiesis. Acts as an endocytic receptor mediating clathrin dependent endocytosis. In case of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), mediates virion attachment and internalization into alveolar macrophages through a clathrin-coated dependent process. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa20-153 from porcine Sialoadhesin, fused to 10X His-Tag at N-terminal and Myc-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in E.coli.
