Human cytomegalovirus (CMV), also called Human herpesvirus, is a member of the herpes virus family and shares the characteristic ability to remain latent within the body for life within an infected individual. Although a CMV infection is typically asymptomatic in healthy persons, immunocompromised individuals such as AIDS patients, organ transplant recipients, and newborn infants, are at high risk of developing life-threatening complications from primary infections and reactivations. Most people (85%) have been infected by CMV by 40 years of age. Recombinant protein corresponding to 561aa from Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Pp65 (UL83), expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~62.8kD Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
