Xanthocillin X dimethyl ether (XDE) is an isonitrile-containing metabolite isolated from the mycelia of Aspergillus sp. first reported by Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Japan in 1968. XDE is active against Newcastle disease, vaccinia and herpes simplex viruses, and inhibits the growth of Bacillus subtilis. XDE is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist.
