Fusacandin A is a rare metabolite related to the papulacandin family produced by Fusarium sambucinum, reported by researchers at Abbott Laboratories, USA in 1995. Fusacandin A exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting (1,3)-beta-glucan synthesis. The low yield from the original strain has hampered research on this metabolite. Source: Fusarium sp. CAS No: 166407-33-6 Molecular Formula: C51H74O21 Molecular Weight: 1023.1 Appearance: Off-white solid Solubility: Methanol, DMSO. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with methanol or DMSO. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
