Norlichexanthone is a xanthone isolated from the lichen, Lecanora reuteri, also produced by various Penicillium sp. Norlichexanthone has antibacterial, antimalarial and antioxidant activity. Its producing fungus, P16, promotes the secretion and expression of adiponectin in cultured ST-13 adipocytes. Norlichexanthone reduces expression of key virulence factors in CA-MRSA strain USA300 via AgrA binding and represses biofilm formation. Source: Penicillium sp.
