The serine/threonine kinase Akt, also known as protein kinase B (PKB), is a central regulator of such diverse cellular processes as glucose uptake, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. In mammals, three highly homologous members define the Akt family: Akt1 (PKBalpha), Akt2 (PKBBeta), and Akt3 (PKBgamma). Akt2 is expressed predominantly in insulin target tissues such as liver, skeletal muscle, and fat. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 2.0ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder and reconstituted products must be stored at 4C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at 4C. Do not freeze. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
