Albumin is a stable small polypeptide with a strong antigenicity. It has a molecular weight of 69000 and an isoelectric point of 5.7. The protein is isolated from serum by sequential precipitation and further purified by ion exchange chromatography and affinity chromatography. The identity is confirmed and tested by immunoelectrophoresis and radial immuno- diffusion using antisera to total serum proteins and albumin. Applications: Suitable for use as a reference antigen, calibrator, coating protein and blocking agent in a variety of immunoassays including immunodiffusion, immunoelectrophoresis, ELISA, Western Blot, dot-immunobinding assays (DIBA), \Haemagglutination, and cell-binding assays. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Purity:
98% as determined by agar-gel electrophoresis
