Alpha-1-antitrypsin is a glycoprotein of MW 54kD with a pI of 4.8. It is a serine protease inhibitor that acts to limit the amount of cell damage and death at the tissue site. Different isoenzymes exist which together form the Protease inhibitor system. Phenotype M is the most common and certain variants (S and Z) are associated with A1AT deficiency which can lead to emphysema and liver disease. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
