LPS-activated mlEND1 cells expressing E-selectin at their cell surface.
Several major families of cell adhesion molecules can be distinguished. These include the cadherins and N-CAMs, which play a crucial role in cell recognition and adhesion, while integrins are implicated in the adherence of cells to the extracellular matrix. Cadherins constitute a family of proteins, the members of which are differentially expressed in the different tissues. One of the best characterized members is E-cadherin, which is prevalent in epithelial tissues. It has been shown to play a crucial role in the process of tumor cell metastasis. NCAMs (neural cell adhesion molecules) exist in at least three forms of plasma membrane plycoproteins, which are expressed in a variety of tissues including most nerve cells. The integrins, finally, form a large family of glycosylated transmembrane proteins that act as dimers of an a- and a beta-subunit in interconnecting the cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistr, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections), Flow Cytometry, ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Flow Cytometry: 1:1000 Immunohistochemistry: frozen Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher. Hybridoma: SP2/0 Mouse myeloma cells with spleen cells from a Lewis Rat immunized with LPS-activated mlEND1 cells expressing E-selectin at their cell surface. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
