Complement factor D is a serine protease of the alternative pathway of complement activation. The protein is a single chain polypeptide with a molecular mass of 25kD. Factor D cleaves factor B bound to C3b, generating the alternative pathway C3 convertase C3bBb and releasing the Ba fragment. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: Used as a biotinylated detection antibody in sandwich ELISA with C7850-71 as the capture antibody(1). Western Blot: Can be used following SDS-PAGE under non-reducing conditions (2). Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Culture Medium: RPMI 1640 with 10% fetal calf serum Hybridoma: X63-Ag8.653 from BALB/c mice immunized ip. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
