Biotin-labeled Nucleotides are used for non-fluorescent labeling of nucleic acids in purification and detection applications. 11-CTP (Biotin) (Biotin-11-cytidine-5-triphosphate) can replace CTP for in vitro transcription reaction catalyzed by T3, T7 or SP6 RNA polymerases. The biotin-labeled RNA transcripts produced by these reactions are suitable for a wide range of applications such as nucleic acid hybridization, sequencing, and genome analysis. The transcription reaction produces multiple RNA copies of the DNA template(s) during a short incubation period. RNA probes offer higher target specificity and greater sensitivity than the corresponding DNA-DNA hybrids. Applications: Suitable for use in Microarray based hybridization detection and Ribonuclease protection assay Other applications have not been tested. Spectroscopic Properties: lambdamax 294 nm, epsilon 9300 Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
