KCNIP3 is a member of the family of voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channel-interacting proteins, which belong to the recoverin branch of the EF-hand superfamily. Members of the KCNIP family are small calcium binding proteins containing EF-hand-like domains. This protein also functions as a calcium-regulated transcriptional repressor, and interacts with presenilins. Mutations in the presenilin genes have been implicated in Alzheimers disease. Source: Recombinant corresponding to aa1-256 of human KCNIP3 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, expressed in E.coli. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
