Dolichos biflorus agglutinin is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of about 120,000 and consists of 4 subunits of approximately equal size. This lectin has an isoelectric point of about pH 5.5 and a carbohydrate specificity toward a-linked N-acetylgalactosamine. DBA is approximately 5000 times more active in agglutinating blood group A1 cells versus A2 cells, and is used to distinguish these blood types in routine serology. It has also been used to establish secretor status in A1 individuals by hemagglutination inhibition techniques and has potential applications in examining tumors which affect the levels of blood group substances. Fluorescein labeled Dolichos Biflorus Agglutinin is produced by using the highest quality fluorescein isothiocyanate, our affinity-purified lectin, and special conjugation procedures. Fluorescein labeled Dolichos Biflorus Agglutinin has an appropriate number of fluorochromes bound which provide the maximum fluorescence and optimum staining characteristics for this particular lectin. This lectin is supplied essentially free of unconjugated fluorochromes and inactive lectin. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA and Immunofluorescence. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunofluorescence: 5-20ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
